The Washington State Society of Anesthesiologists

Founded in 1948, WSSA was formed to advance the science and art of anesthesiology, and to stimulate interest and promote progress in that specialty. It is a Washington State non-profit corporation and is a component society of the American Society of Anesthesiologists. If you'd like to join WSSA, learn more about becoming a member through ASA.

Faces Behind the PPE

Last week, ASA First Vice President Beverly Philip alerted me to an initiative called “Faces Behind Masks,” which provides medical staff with stickers of your face that can be worn on your protective gear. Just that little amount of personalization can make a big difference to scared patients (and colleagues) who naturally feel disconnected from providers sometimes hidden behind PPE. They’ve printed almost 3 million stickers so far – all for free. The Faces Behind Masks website is very well done and makes it easy for you to get your own stickers, or to help their cause, if you wish.
